New Year Resolutions

2010 2011 2012

Bye bye, 2010. Hello, 2011. Stay away, 2012.

Well, its that time of the year again. Time to remember what you hoped to accomplish this year, scratch a bunch of stuff from the list, add more stuff to the list for the coming months and then ignore the list till the same time next year. No, I hope I’m not going to be that lazy this time around. I have so many things I want to do in 2011. So many! I’m going to list a few right here so that I can look back at this post and remind myself that I made a couple of promises to myself.

  1. Pick up that dusty DSLR from the corner and start clicking awesome pictures – Around this time last year, the hubby (then boyfriend) and I invested in a DSLR (of his choosing) while we were vacationing in Boston. The idea was to use it effectively when we went to NYC for Christmas & NYE, spend some time experimenting with street photography, learn how to post process the pictures etc. The hubby was quick to pick up on the nitty grittys of the camera and used it throughout our trip. The hubby also got tired of the camera within a month. I call it the “new-gadget-itch” and for him it lasts from about a day to a month. He won’t be interested in a gadget if its not something new. So anyways, what really kept me from using the camera was that we had a manual focus lens and I found it really difficult to start learning with it, got frustrated, gave up and let him do the clicking. Now, because I have the time and the inspiration, I intend to do something about this sudden interest to make gorgeous pictures!!
  2. Take my cocktail mixology abilities to a new level – I love my vodka. I love my tequila. I love my martinis. I love my margaritas. But I think its time to take this passion to a new level. I think I’m pretty good with the basic knowledge of what goes well with what and how to make a drink look good. I already have the “little black book of cocktails”, so I just need to invest in some bar-tending essentials and I’m ready to go. Can’t wait to experiment on myself and drink myself silly. Lol, maybe that is acceptable in some parts of the world (my parts of the world atleast).
  3. Find the dream job - please don’t judge me and think that my priorities are mixed up, they are not. This should have been number uno on my list, but I know how difficult it is to land a job that you really love (I’m secretly wishing #1 & #2 can be my professions), so I’m just listing stuff based on the probability of happening :D
  4. Be happy, always – I have had trouble with this resolution. Sometimes, certain things make me really sad. But I want to stay optimistic in the new year and try to remain really happy, at all times, no matter what happens, no matter what doesn’t happen. I think when you are happy, everything else just falls into place, not vice versa.

This is a much smaller list than my previous ones, but it is also much grander. I hope that when I look at this list next year, I will have scratched everything off it and marked them as “DONE“!!
